Michiel “The Dark Horse” Opperman is the only mixed martial artist from South Africa on the “Brave 11” fight card. He will compete in the middleweight division against Brazilian fighter Bruno “Brunao” Assis.

Brave Combat Federation will hold “Brave 11” at the Mineirao Stadium Terrace in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil on April 13, 2018. This is the third event of the Bahrain-based MMA promotion to take place in Brazil.

On March 28, 2017, the first Brave CF event to take place in Brazil titled “Brave 3: Battle in Brazil” took place at the Max Rosenmann Arena in São José dos Pinhais, Curitiba. The second one was “Brave 8: The Rise of Champions,” which took place at the Almir Nelson de Almeida (Taruma) Gymnasium in Curitaba.

Opperman holds a record of 11 wins, 10 losses and 1 No Contest. It was his most recent bout that ended in a No Contest.

On September 2, 2016, Opperman faced Yannick Bahati at “EFC Worldwide 53.” Opperman knocked out Bahati at 0:12 of Round 1 but it was later overturned by the South African Institute for Drug Free Sports (SAIDS) when the former tested positive for a banned substance.

Prior to “EFC Worldwide 53,” Opperman lost to Liam Cleland via unanimous decision at “Extreme Fighting Championship 41” on July 11, 2015. The last time Opperman won in the cage was on August 30, 3014 when he submitted Armand de Bruyn via guillotine choke at “Extreme Fighting Championship 33.”

On the other hand, Assis won his most recent bout. He defeated Jailton Junior via unanimous decision at “Shooto: Brazil 80” on January 28, 2018.

Assis currently has 7 wins and 2 losses. He and Opperman are both making their Brave CF debut at “Brave 11”.
