Robin van Roosmalen vs Kevin VanNostrand at ‘Glory 52: Los Angeles’

On March 31, 2018, Glory Kickboxing had its third event in 2018 titled “Glory 52: Los Angeles”  at the Pacific Room in Los Angeles, California. It was headlined by Glory Featherweight Champion Robin van Roosmalen of the Netherlands and Interim Glory Featherweight Champion Kevin VanNostrand of the United States.

It was a title unification bout. Van Roosmalen maintained the Glory Featherweight Champion title after defeating VanNostrand via unanimous decision.

It was on May 26, 2012 when van Roosmalen made a successful Glory Kickboxing debut by defeating Dzhabar Askerov at “Glory 1: Stockholm.” On November 3, 2012 at “Glory 3: Rome,” van Roosmaled defeated Tim Thomas and Sanny Dahlbeck but lost to Giorgio Petrosyan.

Aside from Petrosyan, the only fighters who defeated van Roosmalen in the Glory Kickboxing ring were Andy Ristie and Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong. Both Ristie and Sitsongpeenong competed against van Roosmalen twice.

After “Glory 12: New York,” van Roosmalen and Ristie had their rematch at “Glory 20: Dubai” on April 3, 2015. The latter had his redemptive win.

When Sitsongpeenong and van Roosmalen first fought on November 6, 2015 at “Glory 25: Milan,” the former won the bout. However, van Roosmalen lost when they had their rematch at “Glory 31: Amsterdam” on June 25, 2016.

As a professional mixed martial artist, van Roosmalen is an undefeated fighter with 2 wins. He knocked out Theo Michailidis  at “FFC 22” on February 20, 2016 and Risto Dimitrov at “FFC 28” on March 11, 2017.

As a professional kickboxer, van Roosmalen now has 40 wins and 7 losses overall, 16 wins and 3 losses in Glory Kickboxing. On the other hand, VanNostrand has 17 wins and 2 losses overall, 5 wins and 2 losses in Glory Kickboxing.

VanNostrand made his Glory Kickboxing debut on October 9, 2015 at “Glory 24: Denver” where he defeated Justin Houghton. When VanNostrand returned to the ring on February 26, 2016 at “Glory 27: Chicago,” he lost to Giga Chikadze.

After losing to Chikadze, VanNostrand enjoyed a winning streak in Glory Kickboxing. The American fighter defeated David Moore, Mo Abdurahman and Anvar Boynazarov.

On July 14, 2017, VanNostrand and Chikadze had their rematch at “Glory 43: New York.” It was a redemptive win for the former.

In the co-main event of “Glory 52: Los Angeles,” Simon Marcus of Canada and Zack Wells of the United States competed in the middleweight division. The Canadian fighter defeated his American opponent via technical knockout via referee stoppage at 1:03 of Round 1.
