Adrian “The Hunter” Pang, 40, of Brisbane, Australia did not receive a warm reception in his past encounter against a Team Lakay standout. But the Australian brute is all praises when it comes to the grit and determination that have been exemplified by the combatants of the legendary martial arts squad.
Pang was unsuccessful when he faced Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 34, of the Philippines in 2016. Recently, the former did not mince words about his admiration for Team Lakay’s formula in producing top-notch homegrown talents.
“Team Lakay is an outstanding camp,” Pang said. “I’ve faced Eduard Folayang before he became the ONE Lightweight World Champion. He was so tough and a gallant competitor. He also has a big heart.”
“Team Lakay fighters compete with their pride and heart,” Pang added. “I like this kind of martial artists because I have the same mentality.”
For his next assignment inside the ONE Championship cage, Pang will be sharing the stage with another Team Lakay representative as he is tasked to take on ex-featherweight kingpin Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 28, of the Philippines. The two will collide on the undercard of “ONE: Heroes of Honor,” which takes place at the 20,000-seater SM Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, Philippines on April 20, 2018.
“I’ve still got it, I believe,” Pang said. “I still feel I can keep doing it against the best. I know I came up short in my last few fights, but I am still hungry. The title is out of the question right now. I just want to give fans a good, exciting contest.”
“ONE: Heroes of Honor” will be headlined by Andrew Leone, 28, of the United States and Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 30, who is also from Team Lakay. Meanwhile, here is a clip featuring highlights of Pang’s ONE Championship bouts:
