Vitaly Bigdash vs Leandro Ataides at ‘ONE: Grit and Glory’

03 April 2018 – Jakarta, Indonesia: The largest global sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), has just announced “ONE: Grit and Glory” set for May 12, 2018 at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia. The absolute best in local and international martial arts talent are ready to showcase their skills inside the prestigious ONE Championship cage.

Former ONE Middleweight World Champion Vitaly Bigdash, 33, of Rostov-on-Don, Russia will return to the cage more than 9 months after losing in his rematch with “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang, 32, Myanmar, who is now the reigning ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion. The Russian fighter will face Leandro Ataides, 31, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at “ONE: Grit and Glory.”

Bigdash has proven to be one of the most talented martial artists in the world. Making his ONE Championship debut in 2015, he captured the middleweight title with a resounding technical knockout victory over Igor “Lionheart” Svirid, 31, of Kazakhstan, in one of the most action-packed contests in ONE Championship history.

In Bigdash’s last bout, he lost his ONE Middleweight World Champion title to Aung. The Russian fighter is ready to make his highly-anticipated return and looks to climb back up the division ladder.

Currently, Bigdash has 9 wins and 1 loss. On the other hand, Ataides has 10 wins and 3 losses.

Only 3 of the victories of Ataides reached the final bell. In his last bout, he scored his second ONE Championship victory in a row, defeating former world title challenger Michal Pasternak, 34, of Poland by unanimous decision in a three-round middleweight contest.

A hard-charging warrior, Ataides is a force to be reckoned with in the middleweight class. He is looking forward to exciting the crowd once more as he faces a former middleweight titleholder.

In the “ONE: Grit and Glory” main event, reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Alex “Little Rock” Silva, 35, of Sao Paulo, Brazil takes on Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito, 34, of Matsudo, Japan in a highly-anticipated rematch. ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong stated that the ONE Strawweight World Championship “hangs in the balance” and Silva and Naito are set to “dance once again inside the ONE Championship cage.”
