After a series of twists and turns, the “UFC 223” fight card is left with nine bouts including the main event and co-main event. The first bout on the preliminary card is between Devin “Brown Bear” Clark, 29, and Mike “Slo-Mike” Rodriguez, who will compete in the light heavyweight.
Fighting out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Clark has 2 wins and 2 losses in the UFC. When he made his UFC debut at “UFC Fight Night 91,” he was knocked out by Alex “The Spartan” Nicholson, 27, of Apopka, Floria via punch.
After losing to Nicholson, Clark bounced back and defeated Josh “The Sandman” Stansbury, 33, of East Liverpool, Ohio at “The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale” and Jake “The Prototype” Collier, 29, of Cuba, Missouri at “UFC on Fox 24” both via unanimous decision. But in Clark’s most recent bout, he was submitted by Jan Blachowicz, 35, of Cieszyn, Poland via rear-naked choke at “UFC Fight Night 118.”
In total, Clark currently has 8 wins and 2 losses. On the other hand, Rodriguez has 9 wins and 2 losses.
Fighting out of South Easton, Massachusetts, Rodriguez is making his UFC debut at “UFC 223.” He defeated his four most recent opponents namely Hector “Spartan” Sanchez, 44, of Providence, Rhode Island, James Dysard, 26, of Plattsburgh, New York, Alec Hooben, 25, of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey and Jamelle “The Beast” Jones, 30, of Dover, Delaware.
“UFC 223” will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on April 7, 2018. It will be headlined by Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, 29, of Dagestan, Russia and Al Iaquinta, 30, of New York City, New York and co-headlined by reigning UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Rose “Thug” Namajunas, 25, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Joanna Jedrzejczyk, 30, of Olsztyn, Poland.
