In 2002, it was “Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones” and in 2005, “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith.” In 2018, one of the greatest legends in the history of cinema returns to the red carpet at the next Festival de Cannes.
Presented Out of Competition, the latest film of the “Star Wars” galaxy by Ron Howard brings together Han Solo, his faithful Chewbacca, the crooked Lando Calrissian, the Millennium Falcon and, of course, the droids.
The saga’s second spin-off will be unveiled on the screen of the Grand Théâtre Lumière in Cannes, France. This adventure takes us back to the youth of the famous smuggler, ace pilot and charming scoundrel, Han Solo.
The 2018 Cannes International Film Festival will be held from May 8-19, 2018. The official entries will be unveiled on April 12, 2018.
‘Solo: A Star Wars Story‘
“Solo: A Star Wars Story” was written by Lawrence and Jonathan Kasdan and directed by Ron Howard, who starred in George Lucas’s classic “American Graffiti.” Howard directed numerous popular and critical hits such as “Apollo 13” in 1995 and “A Beautiful Mind” in 2002, which won Best Film and Best Director at the Academy Awards.
Playing Han Solo in “Solo: A Star Wars Story” is Alden Ehrenreich, who starred in “Blue Jasmine” in 2013. The cast also includes Woody Harrelson, who starred in “No Country For Old Men” in 2007, Emilia Clarke, who starred in “Terminator Genisys” in 2015, Donald Glover, who starred in “The Martian” in 2015, Thandie Newton, who starred in “Jefferson in Paris” in 1995, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who starred in “The Iron Lady” in 2011, Joonas Suotamo, who starred in “Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi” in 2017 and Paul Bettany, who starred in “Dogville” in 2003.
Along with Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel, LucasFilm President Kathleen Kennedy produced “Solo : A Star Wars Story” along with the executive producers are Lawrence Kasdan, Jason McGatlin, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. It will be distributed by the Walt Disney Company and it will be released in France on May 23, 2018, two days before its release in the United States.
