Rose “Thug” Namajunas, 25, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States is still the women’s strawweight champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The Lithuanian-American mixed martial artist successfully defended her title at “UFC 223”.

Featuring nine MMA matches, “UFC 223” was held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, United States on April 7, 2018. In the co-main event of the evening, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, 30, of Olsztyn, Poland challenged Namajunas.
Keith Peterson served as the referee. After five five-minute rounds, he raised the hand of Namajunas, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
All of the three judges scored the title bout 49-46 in favor of the reigning UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion. “UFC 223” marked her eighth bout in the promotion.
Jedrzejczyk was the reigning UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion when she first faced Namajunas. The Polish MMA fighter was knocked out by her Lithuanan-American challenger via punches at “UFC 217” on November 4, 2017 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.
Defeating Jedrzejczyk for the second time improved Namajunas’s professional MMA record to 8 wins and 3 losses. The Polish MMA fighter now has 14 wins and 2 losses.
At “UFC 217”, Jedrzejczyk entered the cage as an undefeated fighter with 14 wins. The UFC fighters she defeated were Juliana Lima, Claudia Gadelha, Carla Esparza, Jessica Penne, Valerie Letourneau, Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Jessica Andrade.
Gadelhas lost to Jedrzejczyk twice. Esparza and Kowalkiewicz are the only two fighters to defeat Namajunas in the UFC.
Before signing with the UFC, Namajunas lost to Tecia Torres, 28, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida at “Invicta FC 6” via unanimous decision. Namajunas defeated Torres when they had their rematch at “UFC on Fox 19” on April 16, 2016.
Aside from Jedrzejczyk and Torres, three other fighters lost to Namajunas in the UFC. They are Angela Hill, Paige VanZant and Michelle Waterson.
