Featuring nine MMA matches, “UFC 223” was held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, United States on April 7, 2018. In the sixth bout of the evening, Magomedsharipov fought Kyle “Crash” Bochniak, 31, of Boston, Massachusetts, USA in the featherweight division.
Rob Hinds served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, he raised the hand of Magomedsharipov, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
One of the judges scored the bout 29-28 while the other two scored it 30-27 all in favor of Magomedsharipov. This made him still undefeated in the UFC.
The loss downgraded Bochniak’s professional MMA record to 8 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Magomedsharipov now has 15 wins and 1 loss.
On September 2, 2017, Magomedsharipov made his successful UFC debut by submitting Mike Santiago via rear-naked choke at “UFC Fight Night 115”. On November 25, 2017, the Dagestani MMA fighter submitted Sheymon Morares via anaconda choke at “UFC Fight Night 122”.
Bochniak was also victorious in his most recent bout prior to “UFC 223”. Earning his second UFC win, he defeated Brandon Davis via unanimous decision at “UFC 22” on January 20, 2018.
The first time Bochniak won inside the UFC cage was on August 27, 2016. He defeated Enrique Barzola via split decision at “UFC on Fox 21”.
