On April 7, 2018, Devin “Brown Bear” Clark, 29, fought inside the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) cage for the fifth time. He competed in the light heavyweight division at “UFC 223” against Mike “Slo-Mike” Rodriguez, 29, who made his promotional debut.
The light heavyweight bout between Clark and Rodriguez ended after three five-minute rounds. It was a unanimous decision in favor of the former.
One of the judges scored 29-28. The other two judges both scored 30-27.
After defeating Rodriguez, Clark now has 3 wins and 2 losses in the UFC, 9 wins and 2 losses overall. On December 3, 2016, he earned his first UFC win by defeating Josh “The Sandman” Stansbury, 33, of East Liverpool, Ohio via unanimous decision at “The Ultimate Fighter 24 Finale.”
On April 15, 2017, Clark won inside the UFC cage for the second time. He defeated Jake “The Prototype” Collier, 29, of Cuba, Missouri via unanimous decision at “UFC on Fox 24.”
Clark is fighting out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota while Rodriguez is fighting out of South Easton, Massachusetts. After “UFC 223,” the record of the latter downgraded to 9 wins and 3 losses overall.
Before joining the UFC, Rodriguez had a four-fight winning streak. He defeated Hector “Spartan” Sanchez, 44, of Providence, Rhode Island, James Dysard, 26, of Plattsburgh, New York, Alec Hooben, 25, of Pompton Lakes, New Jersey and Jamelle “The Beast” Jones, 30, of Dover, Delaware.
“UFC 223” took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. In the main event, undefeated fighter Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, 29, of Dagestan, Russia fought for the UFC Lightweight Championship against Al Iaquinta, 30, of New York City, New York.
