On April 7, 2018, Rose “Thug” Namajunas, 25, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin successfully defended her title as the reigning UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion from former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, 30, of Olsztyn, Poland. The two had their rematch in the co-main event of “UFC 223” at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on April 7, 2018.

After five five-minute rounds, the bout between Namajunas and Jedrzejczyk at “UFC 223” ended in the hands of the judges who agreed to a unanimous decision. All of the three judges scored it 49-46 in favor of the reigning champion.

Jedrzejczyk was the reigning UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion when she first faced Namajunas. The Polish mixed martial artist was knocked out by her then challenger via punches at 3:03 of Round 1 at “UFC 217” on November 4, 2017 at Madison Square Garden in New York.

After defeating Jedrzejczyk for the second time, Namajunas now has 8 wins and 3 losses. “UFC 223” marked the reigning UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion’s eighth bout in the promotion.

On the other hand, the rematch with Namajunas was Jedrzejczyk’s 10th bout in the promotion. After the rematch, the fighter from Poland now has 14 wins and 2 losses.

At “UFC 217,” Jedrzejczyk entered the cage as an undefeated fighter with 14 wins. The UFC fighters she defeated were Juliana Lima, Claudia Gadelha, Carla Esparza, Jessica Penne, Valerie Letourneau, Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Jessica Andrade.

Gadelhas lost to Jedrzejczyk twice. Esparza and Kowalkiewicz are the only two fighters to defeat Namajunas in the UFC cage.

Before signing with the UFC, Namajunas lost to Tecia Torres, 28, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida at “Invicta FC 6” via unanimous decision. Namajunas defeated Torres when they had their rematch at “UFC on Fox 19” on April 16, 2016.

Aside from Jedrzejczyk and Torres, three other fighters lost to Namajunas in the UFC cage. They are Angela Hill, Paige VanZant and Michelle Waterson.

In the main event of “UFC 223,” Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov, 29, of Dagestan, Russia put his undefeated record on the line as he competed for the UFC Lightweight Championship against Al Iaquinta, 30, of New York City, New York. By defeating Iaquinta, Nurmagomedov wore the belt that used to belong to Conor “The Notorious” McGregor, 29, of Dublin, Ireland.
