ONE Championship will hold “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on May 18, 2018. There are two co-main events on the main card, one of which is an inaugural title bout.
Sam-a Gaiyanghadao vs Sergio Wielzen
ONE Championship will crown its first ever ONE Super Series Muay Thai Flyweight World Champion. Vying for the title are Sam-A Gaiyanghadao, 34, of Thailand and Sergio “Little One” Wielzen, 30, of Suriname, which marks the promotional debut of the latter.
On January 26, 2018, Gaiyanghadao made his ONE Championship debut at “ONE: Global Superheroes” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. In the inaugural Muay Thai bout of the promotion, the Muay Thai legend knocked out Joseph “The Hurricane” Lasiri, 26, of Italy.
A multiple-time Lumpinee Stadium world champion, Gaiyanghadao is a regarded as one of the best strikers in the world. As a Muay Thai practitioner, he owns a record of 364-46-9 and was known for his strong defense and counter offense.
Gaiyanghadao is an instructor at Evolve in Singapore and a member of the prestigious Evolve Fight Team. To become the first ever ONE Super Series Muay Thai Flyweight World Champion, he has to defeat Wielzen, a Dutch-based martial artist training out of Amsterdam, Netherlands.
With a professional kickboxing record of 45-18-2, Wielzen has built a reputation as an explosive striker with stunning knockout power. Despite being physically smaller than most of his opponents, he has won many of his bouts by knockout. He is also a former It’s Showtime 61MAX world champion.
