Team Lakay’s Honorio Banario wins 7th ONE Championship win at ‘ONE: Heroes of Honor’

On April 21, 2017, Honorio “The Rock” Banario, 28, of Team Lakay from Baguio City, Philippines knocked out Jaroslav Jartim, 25, of Czech Republic at “ONE: Kings of Destiny” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. In the same venue on April 20, 2018, the Team Lakay fighter made a comeback at “ONE: Heroes of Honor” and earned his seventh win in ONE Championship.

At “ONE: Heroes of Honor,” Banario competed Adrian “The Hunter” Pang, 40, of Australia and Papua New Guinea in the lightweight division. It was the last bout on the main card prior to the main events.

The lightweight bout between Banario and Pang ended at after three five-minute rounds. It was a split decision in favor of the Filipino fighter from Team Lakay.

Before Jartim and Pang, Banario defeated Andrew Benibe, Eric Kelly, Vaughn Donayre, Eddie Ng and Rajinder Singh Meena in the ONE Championship cage. After beating Pang, Banario now has 13 wins and 6 losses while Pang’s record downgraded to 22 wins and 12 losses. 

“ONE: Heroes of Honor” marked the debut not only of ONE Championship’s new striking martial arts league called ONE Super Series but also of the promotion’s brand new five-rope ring.

In the main event of the MMA card, Banario’s Team Lakay teammate Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon of the Philippines battled it out with Andrew Leone of the United States in the bantamweight division. The Filipino fighter knocked out his American opponent at 1:27 of Round 2.

In the main event of the ONE Super Series card, Giorgio Petrosyan, an Armenian kickboxer based in Italy, competed against Thai Muay Thai star “Smokin” Jo Nattawut of Thailand in a kickboxing bout in the 76 kg division. After three five-minute rounds, the judges declared the Armenian-Italian fighter as the winner via unanimous decision.
