New Zealand’s John Brewin makes successful Brave CF debut at ‘Brave 12: KHK Legacy’

On May 11, 2018, Hardeep Rai, 21, of the United Kingdom and John Brewin, 22, of New Zealand battled it out at “Brave 12: KHK Legacy,” the first event of Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion Brave Combat Federation held in Southeast Asia. The two fighters competed in the lightweight division.

In the second round, Brewin defeated Rai via technical knockout. This marked the first loss of the latter, who now holds a professional MMA record of 2 wins and 1 loss.

Brewin made his Brave CF debut at “Brave 12: KHK Legacy.” He is now holding a professional MMA record of 2 wins and 0 loss.

The lightweight bout against Brewin at “Brave 12: KHK Legacy” was Rai’s third Brave CF bout. The fighter from the U.K. made his promotional debut on April 23, 2017 at “Brave CF 5” at the SVP Stadium in Mumbai, India where he submitted Arnan “Master” Chaiyasan, 20, of Thailand via armlock in the first round.

Rai was supposed to compete against Alex “The Ice Cream Man” Trinidad, 27, of the United States at “Brave CF 9: The Kingdom of Champions” at the Khalifa Sports City Arena in Isa Town, Bahrain on November 17, 2017 but their bout was cancelled and Trinidad was replaced by Sam Patterson, 22, of England as Rai’s opponent. Rai won his second Brave CF victory by knocking out Patterson in the first round.

In the “Brave 12: KHK Legacy” co-main event, Tahar Hadbi of Algeria and Jarrah “The Jordanian Lion” Al Selawe of Jordan competed in the welterweight division. The Jordanian contender won via unanimous decision and became the first ever MMA fighter to win five Brave CF bouts.

In the main event of the evening, Eldar Eldarov of Russia faced Brian Hooi of the Netherlands in the lightweight division. After three five-minute rounds, the Russian contender was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
