On May 11, 2018, Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion Brave Combat Federation had its first ever event to be held in Southeast Asia at the Balai Sarbini Hall, Jakarta, Indonesia. Titled “Brave 12: KHK Legacy,” it was headlined by Eldar Eldarov, 26, of Dagestan, Russia faced Brian Hooi, 23, of South Holland, Netherlands.
Eldarov and Hooi competed in the lightweight division. The reigning Brave CF Lightweight Champion is Ottman Azaitar of Morocco.
After three five-minute rounds, Eldarov was declared the winner via unanimous decision. It improved his record to 10 wins and 1 loss.
The lightweight bout against Hooi marked Eldarov’s third time to compete in the Brave CF cage. The Dagestani contender is still undefeated in the promotion.
On September 23, 2016, Eldarov was supposed to compete against Peter Queally at “Brave CF 1: Bahrain” but the latter was replaced by Kevin Koldobsky. Eldarov won the bout via unanimous decision.
On April 29, 2017, Eldarov returned to the Brave CF cage and faced Henrique Gomes. The Dagestani fighter knocked out his Brazilian opponent via punches.
On the other hand, Hooi’s record downgraded to 15 wins, 7 losses and 1 No Contest after losing to Eldarov at “Brave 12: KHK Legacy.” It marked the Dutch fighter’s second bout in the promotion.
Hooi made his Brave CF debut on April 23, 2017 at “Brave CF 5.” He lost to his Brazilian opponent Erick da Silva via split decision.
In the “Brave 12: KHK Legacy” co-main event, Tahar Hadbi of Algeria and Jarrah “The Jordanian Lion” Al Selawe of Jordan competed in the welterweight division. The Jordanian contender won via unanimous decision and became the first ever MMA fighter to win five Brave CF bouts.
