After capturing the ONE Interim Flyweight Championship, Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, 29, of the Philippines is finally facing the reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes, 29, of Brazil. The two will co-headline “ONE: Pinnacle of Power,” which will mark Eustaquio’s third rematch in the ONE Championship cage.
Representing Team Lakay of Baguio City, Philippines, Eustaquio lost to Moraes at “ONE: Rise of the Kingdom” on September 12, 2014 and to Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhtemov, 30, of Kazakhstan at “ONE: Total Victory” on September 16, 2017. But on January 26, 2018 at “ONE: Global Superheroes,” Eustaquio became the ONE Interim Flyweight World Champion by successfully avenging himself against Akhtemov.
“Geje Eustaquio is hungry,” Moraes pointed out. “He will bring something new to the table in our rematch, but I am confident in my abilities. I see myself retaining my championship on 23rd of June.”
“I believe that I can stand and bang with the best in the world,” the reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion assured. “With that being said, anywhere I can get the finish. Whether it’s standing or grappling, I’m taking it.”
Moraes expects that Eustaquio will dig deep to score the improbable upset victory over him, but the proud Brazilian remains optimistic that he will still walk out with the ONE Flyweight World Championship around his waist. Against Eustaquio, Moraes stressed that he will be gearing up for the best version of his Filipino counterpart.
“I am preparing for the best Geje Eustaquio possible, and that is the only way I can prepare to be at my best,” Moraes said. “I believe this match is going to be a battle between two top-notch martial artists. It is going to be a battle from start to finish.”
“ONE: Pinnacle of Power” will be headlined by reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 30, of China and Laura “La Gladiadora” Balin, 38, of Argentina on June 23, 2018 at the Studio City Event Center in Macau, China.
