07 June 2018 – Manila, Philippines: The largest global sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), has just announced the main event for “ONE: Reign of Kings,” which is set for the SM Mall of Asia Arena on July 27, 2018. Headlining the event are Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 30, of Baguio City, Philippines and Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Sydney, Australia.
Belingon and Nguyen will compete for the ONE Interim Bantamweight World Championship title. The winner is expected to face reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, 38, of Brazil soon for a title unification bout.
“With reigning bantamweight king Bibiano Fernandes not available until later this year due to injury, Kevin Belingon and Martin Nguyen will square off for the ONE Interim Bantamweight World Championship,” ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong stated. “It’s a great match-up between two heavy-handed power punchers and one that will surely leave fans at the edge of their seats. Don’t miss ‘ONE: Reign of Kings’ when it hits Manila this July.”
If Nguyen wins at “ONE: Reign of Kings,” he will become the first ONE Championship fighter with three titles at the same time. He has been the reigning ONE Featherweight and Lightweight World Champion since November 10, 2017.
ONE Championship has also announced two blockbuster “ONE: Reign of Kings” bouts. Rising Thai superstar Shannon “OneShin” Wiratchai, 29, of Thailand will face former ONE Lightweight World Champion Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki, 35, of Japan while the legendary Renzo Gracie, 51, of Brazil returns to action in his final farewell match to face veteran Yuki “Sora” Kondo, 42, of Japan.
