On November 10, 2017, Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Malaysia became ONE Championship’s first ever two-division world champion after a shocking victory at “ONE: Legends of the World” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. On July 27, 2018, he will return to the same venue for “ONE: Reign of Kings.”

At “ONE: Legends of the World,” Nguyen was considered the underdog as he challenged a hometown hero, then ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 34, of the Philippines. Already the reigning ONE Featherweight World Champion at the time, the Vietnamese-Australian mixed martial artist became ONE Championship’s first ever two-division world champion by dethroning Folayang, who is representing Team Lakay of Baguio City, Philippines.

Nguyen will headline “ONE: Reign of Kings” with Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 30, who is also from Team Lakay. The two will compete for the ONE Interim Bantamweight World Champion title, a ticket to an opportunity to challenge reigning ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, 38, of Brazil.

“Bibiano [Fernandes] should watch this fight with a close eye,” Nguyen stated. “He knows who the rightful challenger is. It’s either me or Kevin, and I will be doing everything in my power to finish this one.”

“This is a fan-friendly match-up between two aggressive, young beasts, and I can’t wait to lock horns with Kevin,” the reigning ONE Featherweight and Lightweight World Champion added. “There will be fireworks.”

Currently, Nguyen has 11 wins and 2 losses. Out of his 11 wins, 3 were via submission and 7 were via knockout.

Nguyen’s well-around skill set allows him to perform at the highest level of competition. He is one of the most highly regarded martial arts world champions today.

“ONE: Reign of Kings” will give Nguyen another opportunity to make history as the first ever three-division world champion of ONE Championship. He made such an attempt on March 24, 2018 at “ONE: Iron Will” where he challenged Fernandes but the Vietnamese-Australian challenger lost to the Brazilian champion via split decision.

In Nguyen’s most recent bout, which was at “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” on May 18, 2018, he successfully defended his ONE Featherweight World Champion belt from Christian “The Warrior” Lee, 19, of Singapore via a split decision victory. Meanwhile, here is a clip from Nguyen and Fernandes’s bout:
