The last time Narantungalag “Tungaa” Jadambaa, 42, of Mongolia fought in the cage, he lost to Marat “Cobra” Gafurov, 33, of Russia. The two are both a former ONE Featherweight World Champion.

“After competing against Marat Gafurov, I thought that I needed to improve my wrestling and grappling skills and my physical strength,” Jadambaa stated. “Now, I think that I have improved myself even more than before.”

On November 11, 2016, Jadambaa lost to Gafurov at “ONE: Defending Honor” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. The Russian fighter submitted his Mongolian opponent via rear-naked choke.

Since then, the Mongolian mixed martial arts veteran has been on the sidelines. Still, he has remained active at the gym, working to add new dimensions to his mixed martial arts arsenal.

“The focus has to be on endurance and cardio,” Jadambaa explained. “I do long distance running a few times a week. I mix that with 100-meter sprints.”

“ONE: Defending Honor” marked the second time Jadambaa lost to Gafurov. Their first encounter took place at the Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium in Beijing, China on November 21, 2015 at “ONE: Dynasty of Champions” where the Russian fighter also submitted his Mongolian opponent via rear-naked choke.

Currently, Jadambaa holds a professional MMA record of 12 wins and 5 losses. On the other hand, Gafurov has 16 wins and 1 loss.

Jadambaa is grappler known for his immense one-punch knockout power. On June 23, 2018, he will return to action for the first time since losing to Gafurov for the second time.

The Mongolian MMA veteran will compete at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power” at the Studio City Event Center in Macau, China against Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly, 34, of the Philippines. Here is a clip from the bout between Jadambaa and Eric “The Natural” Kelly, older brother of Edward:
