Representing Team Lakay of Baguio City, Philippines, Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 34, is returning to the cage on July 27, 2018. He is set to battle it out with ONE Championship debutante Aziz Pahrudinov, 29, of Dagestan, Russia at “ONE: Reign of Kings.”
Taking place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines, “ONE: Reign of Kings” marks Folayang’s 14th bout in ONE Championship. The Filipino mixed martial arts star is coming out of a victory at “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams.”
On May 18, 2018, Folayang defeated Kharun “Predator” Atlangeriev, 35, of Yaroslavl, Russia via unanimous decision at “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. It was the Russian contender’s first bout in the promotion and first loss as a professional MMA fighter.
By defeating Atlangeriev at “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams,” Folayang improved his professional MMA record to 19 wins and 6 losses. The last time the Team Lakay fighter lost was on November 10, 2017 when his ONE Lightweight World Champion title was captured by Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Vietnam at “ONE: Legends of the World” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
This made Folayang’s victory at “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” a redemptive victory. Prior to his loss to Nguyen, the Team Lakay fighter successfully defended his ONE Lightweight World Champion title from Ev “E.T.” Ting, 28, of New Zealand and Malaysia at “ONE: Kings of Destiny” at the SM Mall of Asia on April 20, 2017.
Like Folayang, Pahrudinov is coming out of a unanimous decision victory. In the Dagestani fighter’s most recent bout, which was at “Pancrase 291” on November 12, 2017 at the Differ Ariake in Tokyo, Japan, he defeated Kenichiro Togashi, 27, of Hiroshima, Japan via unanimous decision.
Like Atlangeriev, Pahrudinov is entering the ONE Championship cage for the first time as an undefeated fighter. The Dagestani fighter currently has 20 wins and 0 loss.
