Rene Catalan vs Stefer Rahardian at ‘ONE: Reign of Kings’ in Manila

A bout between Rene “D’ Challenger” Catalan, 39, of the Philippines and Stefer Rahardian, 31, of Indonesia has been booked for “ONE: Reign of Kings.” On July 27, 2018, the two mixed martial artists will compete in the strawweight division.

“ONE: Reign of Kings” marks Catalan’s seventh bout in ONE Championship. He won 4 out of his 7 professional MMA bouts, all of which are under the promotion.

The Filipino contender is riding a four-bout winning streak. From 2016 to 2018, he defeated Zhang You Liang, Adrian Mattheis, Hou You Ga Bu and Peng Xue Wen at “ONE: Unbreakable Warriors,” “ONE: Quest for Power,” “ONE: Quest for Greatness” and “ONE: Kings of Courage,” respectively.

On the other hand, Rahardian has been competing professionally since 2015. He joined ONE Championship in 2016 and went on to defeat Yotha Hutagalung and Hendrick Wijaya at “ONE: Titles and Titans,” Jerome S. Paye at “ONE: Quest for Power,” Euguene Toquero at “ONE: Kings of Destiny,” Sim Bunsrun of “ONE: Total Victory,” Muhammad Imran at “ONE: Kings of Courage” and Himanshu Kaushik at “ONE: Grit and Glory.”

Catalan will be Rahardian’s second Filipino opponent after Toquero. Currently, Catalan holds a professional MMA record of 4 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw.

With 8 wins and 0 loss, Rahardian looks to protect his unblemished record from a hometown fighter at “ONE: Reign of Kings,” which will take place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila like all ONE Championship events in the Philippines. The first two events of the promotion in the country in 2018 were “ONE: Global Superheroes” on January 26, 2018 and “ONE: Heroes of Honor” on April 20, 2018.

To be followed by “ONE: Conquest of Champions” on November 23, 2018, “ONE: Reign of Kings” is the third among the four events scheduled to take place in the Philippines in 2018. Headlining “ONE: Reign of Kings” are Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 30, of the Philippines and Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Vietnam, who will compete for the ONE Interim Bantamweight World Championship.
