Yoshitaka Naito vs Joshua Pacio rematch at ‘ONE: Conquest of Heroes’ in Jakarta, Indonesia

The third ONE Championship event in Indonesia in 2018 is titled “ONE: Conquest of Heroes.” It will be headlined by reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito, 34, of Matsudo, Chiba, Japan and Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 22, of La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines in a rematch.

The first time Naito and Pacio faced each other inside the ONE Championship cage was at “ONE: State of Warriors” on October 7, 2016 at the Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar. The reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion submitted his Filipino challenger via rear-naked choke in the third round.

“ONE: State of Warriors” marked Pacio’s first loss as a professional mixed martial artist. Representing Team Lakay, he currently holds a professional MMA record of 12 wins and 2 losses.

On the other hand, Naito has 13 wins and 1 loss. His only loss was from Alex “Little Rock” Silva, 35, of Ubatuba, Sao Paulo, Brazil. After defeating Pacio, the Japanese champ lost the ONE Strawweight World Champion belt via unanimous decision to the Brazilian challenger at “ONE: Warriors of the World” at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.

In Naito’s most recent bout, which was at “ONE: Grit and Glory” at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia on May 12, 2018, he challenged Silva in a rematch. The Japanese MMA veteran reclaimed the ONE Strawweight World Champion belt by defeating the then champion from Ubatuba via split decision.

Like Naito, Pacio is coming out of a victory. After losing to Hayato Suzuki, 32, of Misato, Saitama, Japan via rear-naked submission at “ONE: Kings and Conquerors” at the Cotai Arena in Macau, China, the Team Lakay fighter defeated three opponents consecutively.

Pacio knocked out his compatriot Roy Doliguez, 36, at “ONE: Legends of the World” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on November 10, 2017. On January 26, 2018, the Team Lakay fighter returned at the SM Mall of Asia for “ONE: Global Superheroes” and submitted Lan Ming Qiang, 24, of China via rear-naked choke.

Pacio’s most recent bout also took place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. At “ONE: Reign of Kings” on July 27, 2018, he submitted Pongsiri “The Smiling Assassin” Mitsatit of Thailand via hammerlock.

On September 22, 2018, Pacio will challenge Naito for the ONE Strawweight World Championship for the second time. Their rematch will be the main event of “ONE: Conquest of Heroes,” which will take place at the Jakarta Convention Center.

There are four ONE Championship events scheduled in Indonesia in 2018. The first two were “ONE: Kings of Courage” on January 20, 2018 and “ONE: Grit and Glory” on May 12, 2018 and the fourth one will be “ONE: Warrior’s Dream” on November 17, 2018.

Meanwhile, here is an interview with Pacio before his bout with Mitsatit:
