Before moving to Santa Monica, California, United States, I was a resident of Los Angeles, California. It was in Los Angeles where I experienced the challenging process of choosing the right condominium unit.
There were several things I had to consider such as the physical aspect of the condominium. I had to think about its location and how conducive it would be for me.
When I was looking for a Los Angeles condo for sale, I looked for a condominium unit that I could imagine myself living in for a long period of time. Moving to Santa Monica was not part of my plan so I didn’t initially think about what to do with the condo in case I had to move.
Finding the right condo unit
Los Angeles is the second most populous city in the U.S. Whether or not it is easy to find a good condo in this city depends on your non-negotiables.
For those who are currently looking for a condo in Los Angeles or in any city, one of the first things you need to do is finalize your budget. How much can you provide for the space where you are going to live?
You need to find condo units that you can afford so that you will have money to spend on your other important expenses. You cannot spend all of your money on the unit alone.
Learn more about the security of the condominium. You do not want to live in a place wherein you will not feel safe. Can you imagine living somewhere wherein strangers can just barge in?
List your Top 3 non-negotiables when it comes to choosing your condo unit. Start with a list of 10 or more things you prefer then cross out those you can give up until you are only left with three. Should it be near gyms and restaurants? Is it necessary for you to have a scenic view? Is it important for you to be in a crime-free neighborhood? Could you live there without accepting guests?
Make sure that your lifestyle matches the rules of the condominium. There are some condominium units that will not allow you to make loud noises beyond a certain time. There are also some condominium units that are very strict about the guests that will be entering your unit. All of your guests will be required to log in and register before they will be allowed to go up even if they are with you. Get to know these rules so you will not make a mistake when you are already living there.
