ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela “Unstoppable” Lee, 22, of Singapore was one of the ONE Championship athletes who joined the “ONE: Heart of the Lion” worldwide conference call on October 18, 2018. It was moderated by ONE Championship PR and communications vice president Loren Mack.
“ONE: Heart of the Lion” will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on November 9, 2018. In the main event, Lee will challenge reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 30, of China.
If Lee wins at “ONE: Heart of the Lion,” she will become the first ever female two-division world champion in the world. It will also make her the third ONE Championship athlete to hold two division titles simultaneously, following the footsteps of Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Vietnam and “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang, 34, of Myanmar.
“Becoming a two-division world champion in the sport is something I wanted for so long but I knew I had to earn it,” Lee said during the conference. “The time has come to turn that dream into a reality. I am facing an outstanding champion in my next bout, and I am not taking Xiong Jing Nan lightly.”
“I live for challenges,” Lee shared. “This is why I do what I do, to test myself against the very best in the world. Now I am ready for a new challenge and entering the strawweight division has lit a fire underneath me.”
Lee promised to show a “more focused, faster, and stronger” version of herself at “ONE: Heart of the Lion.” She acknowledged that, like her, Xiong has very good striking and grappling skills.
For Lee, she is continuously improving and growing as she is working very hard everyday to make sure she is in the best shape of her career. She said, “I believe in my team and my coaches, my Dad.”
“I know what’s at stake here and I will do everything that I can to come out the winner,” Lee said. “It’s time to make history.”
