Reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 30, of China was one of the ONE Championship athletes who joined the “ONE: Heart of the Lion” worldwide conference call on October 18, 2018. It was moderated by ONE Championship PR and communications vice president Loren Mack.
“This title around my waist represents all the hard work I have put into my craft since the very beginning of my career,” Xiong said during the conference. “I have been practicing martial arts since I was a child. It is my passion, my livelihood, and my life.”
“ONE: Heart of the Lion” will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore on November 9, 2018. In the main event, Xiong will defend her title from ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion Angela “Unstoppable” Lee, 22, of Singapore.
“I will do everything in my power to keep the belt,” Xiong declared. “Angela is a tremendous fighter and champion and I respect her as a martial artist.”
“But this is my division and my belt,” the reigning ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion continued. “I will never give it up without a fight. On 9 November, the world will witness history but I will leave the arena still champion.”
If Xiong loses at “ONE: Heart of the Lion,” Lee will become the first ever female two-division world champion in the world. It will also make the undefeated Singaporean fighter the third ONE Championship athlete to hold two division titles simultaneously, following the footsteps of Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Vietnam and “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang, 34, of Myanmar.
Co-headlining “ONE: Heart of the Lion” are ONE Interim Bantamweight World Champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 30, of the Philippines and ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, 38, of Brazil. The two will compete to unify the titles in a rematch.
