Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam, 28, of Sweden was at the Jakarta Muay Thai & MMA Gym in Jakarta, Indonesia on November 14, 2018 for the official “ONE: Warrior’s Dream” face-off and open workout. He and Tyler McGuire, 32, of the United States are scheduled to compete for the vacant ONE Welterweight World Championship, which Ben “Funky” Askren, 34, of the U.S. vacated on November 24, 2017.
On November 17, 2018, Kadestam and McGuire will headline “ONE: Warrior’s Dream,” which will take place at the Stadium Istora in Jakarta. The Swedish contender said, “I feel extremely confident heading into this next bout.”
“I have learned many lessons from my experience in competing for the title against Ben Askren a year ago,” Kadestam added. “Now, I have come out as a much improved martial artist. There are a lot of things that I can still improve on, and I’m getting better every day.”
“ONE: Warrior’s Dream” marks the second time Kadestam is competing for the ONE Welterweight World Championship. He challenged Askren at “ONE: Championship: Shanghai” on September 2, 2017 at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center in Shanghai, China but was knocked out by the defending champion.
Kadestam is a former PXC Welterweight Champion. He started training in Muay Thai when he was 12 years old and later embarked on a highly successful professional career in the sport.
Soon, Kadestam explored other disciplines as he trained at the Pancrase Gym in Stockholm, Sweden and also traveled to the Philippines to sharpen his skills at the Legacy Gym in Boracay, Malay, Aklan under famed martial artist Ole Laursen.
While Kadestam was unsuccessful in his first attempt to capture the ONE Welterweight World Championship, he owns two high-profile victories over top contenders Luis “Sapo” Santos, 38, of Brazil and Agilan “Alligator” Thani, 23, of Malaysia. On July 13, 2018, the Swedish fighter knocked out the Malaysian fighter at “ONE: Pursuit of Power” at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Nieky “The Natural” Holzken, 34, of the Netherlands and Cosmo “Good Boy” Alexandre, 36, of Brazil will co-headline “ONE: Warrior’s Dream.” They also attended the official face-off and open workout along with ONE Championship athletes Priscilla “Thathi” Hertati Lumban Gaol, 30, of Indonesia and Angelie “The Explorer” Sabanal, 29, of the Philippines.
