Representing Evolve MMA, Bruno “Puccibull” Pucci, 28, of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil has earned his fourth victory in ONE Championship. He was one of the winners at “ONE: Warrior’s Dream,” which marked his seventh bout in the Singapore-based martial arts organization.
Featuring three ONE Super Series striking contests and 11 mixed martial arts matches, “ONE: Warrior’s Dream” took place on November 17, 2018 at the Stadium Istora in Jakarta, Indonesia. In the second bout of the evening, Pucci competed in an MMA bout in the featherweight division against “White Dragon” Xie Chao, 26, of Qingzhou, Shandong, China.
After going on hiatus for almost 10 months, Pucci made a triumphant return to the ONE Championship cage, making quick work of Xie, a freestyle martial artist representing Long Yun MMA. The Evolve MMA fighter was determined to bring his Chinese opponent to the mat early and was successful in doing so.
Referee Yuji Shimada put a stop to the featherweight bout between Xie and Pucci after 56 seconds in the first round. The Brazilian contender latched onto a guillotine choke, pulled guard and put his Chinese opponent to sleep.
Pucci is a multiple-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion. He holds a professional BJJ record of 170 wins and 55 losses.
When Pucci made his ONE Championship debut on September 13, 2013 at “ONE: Champions and Warriors,” he submitted Bashir “Somchai” Ahmad, 36, of Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan via rear-naked choke in the first round. The Brazilian fighter’s second victory in the organization was also via the same method.
On December 11, 2015, Pucci submitted Anthony “The Archangel” Engelen, 33, of Indonesia and the Netherlands via rear-naked choke in the second round at “ONE: Spirit of Champions.” So far, it was Pucci’s only ONE Championship bout that reached the second round.
On June 30, 2017 at “ONE: Light of a Nation,” Pucci won inside the ONE Championship cage via knockout for the first time. He knocked out Jimmy “The Silencer” Yabo, 37, of Cebu, Philippines via punches in the first round.
In Pucci’s corner at “ONE: Warrior’s Dream” were his father-in-law Ken Lee and his brother-in-law Christian “The Warrior” Lee, 20, of Singapore, who is also an Evolve MMA fighter and a ONE Championship athlete. Meanwhile, here is a recap by Michael Schiavello and Mitch Chilson:
