Founded by Mark Sangiao, Team Lakay is currently the only mixed martial arts team in the world with five world champions simultaneously reigning in global MMA promotions. Based in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines, the team recently earned its fifth reigning champion in 2018.

The youngest reigning champion of Brave Combat Federation is Team Lakay fighter Stephen “The Sniper” Loman, 23. He successfully defended his Brave CF Bantamweight Championship title twice in 2018.

In 2018 alone, four Team Lakay fighters captured a world championship belt in ONE Championship. They are Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, 29, Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 31, Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 22, and Eduard “Landslide” Folayang, 35.

Eustaquio became the ONE Interim Flyweight World Champion on January 26, 2018  by defeating Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhtemov, 31, of Taldykorgan, Almaty, Kazakhstan at “ONE: Global Superheroes” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. The Team Lakay fighter eventually became the undisputed ONE Flyweight World Champion on June 23, 2018 by dethroning Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes, 29, at “ONE: Pinnacle of Power” at the Studio City Event Center in Macau, China.

Belingon became the ONE Interim Bantamweight World Champion on July 27, 2018 by defeating Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen, 29, of Australia and Vietnam at “ONE: Reign of Kings” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. The Team Lakay fighter became the undisputed ONE Bantamweight World Champion on November 9, 2018 by dethroning Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, 38, of Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil at “ONE: Heart of a Lion” in Singapore.

Pacio first competed for the ONE Strawweight World Championship on October 7, 2016 but failed to dethrone then reigning champion, Yoshitaka “Nobita” Naito, 34, of Matsudo, Chiba, Japan. But when they fought again on September 22, 2018 at “ONE: Conquest of Heroes” at the Jakarta Convention Center in Jakarta, Indonesia, the Team Lakay fighter was declared the new ONE Strawweight World Champion.

The second ONE Championship champion from Team Lakay was Folayang. He reigned as the ONE Lightweight World Champion from November 11, 2016 to November 10, 2017.

Both Banario and Folayang are now competing in the lightweight division. They competed in separate bouts at “ONE: Conquest of Champions” on November 23, 2018 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Including Loman, Eustaquio, Belingon, Pacio and Folayang, ONE Championship now has six  reigning world champions from the Philippines. The sixth one is Brandon “The Truth” Vera, 41, who has been reigning as the ONE Heavyweight World Champion since December 11, 2015.
