Matauaina Gwendolyn To’omalatai of American Samoa won Miss Pacific Islands 2017 at the Prince Charles Park in Nadi, Fiji on December 9, 2017. Nine candidates competed for the title.

On November 30, 2018, To’omalatai crowned her successor Leoshina Mercy Kariha of Papua New Guinea at the Atele Indoor Stadium in Nuku’alofa, Tonga. Six candidates competed for the title.

Juliette Caroline Spencer of American Samoa won the inaugural edition of Miss South Pacific, which was founded by the government of Samoa in 1987. In 2013, Teuira Napa of the Cook Islands became the last Miss South Pacific, which was later renamed Miss Pacific Islands.

On December 19, 2014, Alofa Dawn Latafale Auva’a of Samoa won Miss Pacific Islands 2014 at Gym 1 in Tuanaimato, Apia, Samoa. The title was won by Abigail Havora of Papua New Guinea at the National Auditorium in Rarotonga, Cook Islands on December 12, 2015 and Anne Christine Dunn of Fiji at Gym 1 in Tuanaimato on December 2, 2016.
