Gwen Stefani appeared in the episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” aired on December 4, 2018. On the show, Ellen DeGeneres tried to trick the No Doubt frontwoman into revealing that she was engaged to country music star Blake Shelton.
“Blake told me that y’all are engaged now,” DeGeneres told Stefani. Surprised, the singer laughed and replied, “No, he didn’t.”
“Yes, he told me you’re engaged,” DeGeneres jokingly insisted. “So let’s talk about that.”
“What are you talking about?” Stefani also insisted. “We’re not. We’re not engaged and we’re not married and he’s my boyfriend still.”
Eventually, the conversation was led to the music video of “You Make It Feel Like Christmas,” a collaboration song of Stefani and Shelton. It was from the No Doubt frontwoman’s fourth studio album of the same title.
According to Stefani, Shelton hates doing music videos. However, she was able to convince him with the help of his manager.
“I got him to do it,” Stefani said of Shelton. “And his manager was like, ‘He’ll do it, but he’ll only do a performance thing.’ We just kept talking him into more and more and more.”
Stefani and Shelton have been dating since 2015. The latter served as a coach on “The Voice” from its first to 15th season while the former was a coach on the show in its seventh, ninth and 12th seasons.
Shelton was married to Kaynette Gern from 2003 to 2006. He was married to Miranda Lambert from 2011 to 2015.
From 2002 to 2016, Stefani was married to Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. They have three sons.
Interscope Records released the “You Make It Feel Like Christmas” album on October 6, 2017. Stefani executive produced the album with Mike Busbee, who is professionally known as busbee, with additional production from Eric Dodd, who is professionally known as Eric Valentine.
