The Ultimate Fighting Championship held “UFC 231” at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on December 8, 2018. In the co-main event of the evening, Valentina “Bullet” Shevchenko, 30, of Lima, Peru and Joanna Jedrzejczyk, 31, of Olsztyn, Poland competed for the vacant UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship title.

Jedrzejczyk was born in Olsztyn on August 18, 1987. She is engaged to Polish footballer Przemysław Buta, 29.
From March 14, 2015 to November 4, 2017, Jedrzejczyk reigned as the UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion. “UFC 231” marked her debut as a flyweight contender in the UFC .

Shevchenko was born in Frunze, Kirghizia, which is now known as Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on March 7, 1988 to Ukrainian parents. She graduated from the United of Arts Kyrgyzstan with a bachelor’s degree in Film Directing.
On December 19, 2015, the Kyrgyzstani-Peruvian fighter made her successful UFC debut at “UFC on Fox 17” in Orlando, Florida, USA. She defeated Sarah Kaufman via split decision.
Fight Result
Todd Anderson served as the referee of the UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship bout between Shevchenko and Jedrzejczyk. After five five-minute rounds, the bout was left in the hands of the judges.
In the end, Anderson raised the hand of Shevchenko, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision. All the judges scored the bout 49-46 in favor of the Kyrgyzstani-Peruvian fighter.
Winning at “UFC 231” improved Shevchenko’s professional MMA record to 16 wins and 3 losses. On the other hand, Jedrzejczyk now has 15 wins and 3 losses.
“UFC 231” Main Event
In the main event, Brian “T-City” Ortega, 27, of Torrance, California, United States challenged reigning UFC Featherweight Champion Max “Blessed” Holloway, 27, of Waianae, Hawaii, United States. The defending champion won via technical knockout due to doctor stoppage.
