‘The Blacklist’ Season 6 episode 1 spoilers: Will Liz confront Raymond Reddington?

'The Blacklist' Season 6

“The Blacklist” Season 6 will premiere on January 3, 2019 on NBC. In the first episode titled “Dr. Hans Koehler,” Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Megan Boone) will have to decide what she should do with the information that Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) is an imposter.

An international criminal and informant, Spader’s character supplies names of villains known as Blacklisters to Boone’s character, an FBI special agent he claims to be his daughter. It turns out that he is not his real father and the real Raymond Reddington is dead.

Liz will neither go to the FBI nor confront Red, “The Blacklist” creator Jon Bokenkamp told TVLine. He said Boone’s character chooses stay quiet about Red’s lies, which will “put her in the driver’s seat in a way that we really haven’t seen before.”

“She has to present as his daughter,” Bokenkamp said of Liz. “She has to continue as if it’s same old, same old.”

According to Bokenkamp, Liz almost has more questions now than the day she and Red met and with such a betrayal, she finds it hard to “meet him with open arms.” The series creator added that she has felt “so betrayed and had the rug pulled out from her in such a significant way.”

“Dr. Hans Koehler” was written by Bokenkamp, directed by Bill Roe and edited by Chris Brookshire. Along with Liz and Red, Aram Mojtabai (Amir Arison), Lillian Roth/Jennifer Reddington (Fiona Dourif), Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff), Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) and Samar Navabi (Mozhan Marno) will be in the season premiere.

In “Dr. Hans Koehler,” Red will give the Task Force a Blacklister case that creates new identities for criminals. Also, Liz and Jennifer will secretly investigate the events surrounding the death of the real Raymond Reddington.

Viewers can expect lies, secrets and misdirection in “The Blacklist” Season 6. “It’s messier than we once thought,” the Arizona Daily Sun quoted Boone as saying.
