The Poodle is one of the 10 contestants of “The Masked Singer” Season 1 whose identities have yet to be revealed. Hosted by Nick Cannon, the Fox reality singing competition show features Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy as the celebrity judges.
What we have learned after the unmasking of The Hippo as Antonio Brown in episode 1 titled “Mask on Face Off” and The Pineapple as Tommy Chong in episode 2 titled “New Masks on the Block” is that the objects presented as clues should not be taken literally. The clue to The Poodle’s identity is telephone but it does not necessarily mean that she is “Call Me Maybe” singer Carly Rae Jepsen.
“Ever since I was a little girl, I loved to be onstage and in character,” The Poodle said before her performance. Hailing from San Francisco, she comes from a musical family but she is known for “a different kind of talent.”
“My whole career has been about exercising my right to free speech,” The Poodle said. “To figure me out, you’re gonna have to work!”
After performing “Heartbreaker” by Pat Benatar, The Poodle had to face the questions of the judges. She simply gave them a cryptic answer, “I’m here for your honor.”
Some of the judges thought The Poodle may be part of the LGBT community because of the rainbow in her reel. These are the netizens’ common guesses:
Maya Rudolph was born in Gainesville, Florida, United States on July 27, 1972 to Ashkenazi Jewish composer Richard Rudolph and the late African-American singer-songwriter Minnie Riperton. Known for playing various roles in “Saturday Night Live” from 2000 to 2007, Maya now stars in “Big Mouth” and “The Good Place.”
Margaret Cho was born in San Francisco, California, USA on December 5, 1968 to Korean immigrants Cho Seung Hoon and Cho Young Hie. She starred in “All-American Girl” from 1994 to 1995 and she is set to play a fairy gay mother in the 2019 film “Friendsgiving.”
Debbie Harry was born Angela Trimble in Miami, Florida, USA on July 1, 1945 and was renamed Deborah Ann Harry by her adoptive parents Richard Smith Harry and Catherine Peters Harry. She played Kiki in “Difficult People” from 2015 to 2016 and appeared as a guest judge in one episode of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” in 2016.
