'Brave 23: Jordan'

On February 10, 2019, Brave Combat Federation took to Instagram to share the first teaser for its second event in 2019. It will be the 23rd show of the Bahrain-based mixed martial arts promotion since its inception in 2016.

“Brave 23” will take place at the Al-Hussein Youth City Boxing Arena in Amman, Jordan on April 19, 2019. It will be the second Brave CF event to be held in the city, which is home to reigning Brave CF Lightweight Champion Abdul-Kareem “Pride of Palestine” Al-Selwady, 23, and reigning Brave CF Welterweight Champion Jarrah “The Jordanian Lion” Al-Selawe, 26.

Al-Selwady and Al-Selawe are both shown in the “Brave 23” teaser. Joining them in the promo are Mounir “The Sniper” Lazzez, 31, of Tunisia, Eldar “Khan” Eldarov, 27, of Russia and Luan “Miau” Santiago, 24, of Brazil.

While there are no bouts confirmed for “Brave 23,” the teaser has sent shockwaves through the Arab MMA community as Al-Selwady and Al-Selawe are two of the biggest fighters in the region. They both competed at “Brave 10: The Kingdom Rises,” the first Brave CF event to take place in Jordan.

Featuring 11 MMA bouts, “Brave 10: The Kingdom Rises” took place at the Prince Hamzah Sporting Hall in Amman on March 2, 2018. Al-Selwady defeated Charlie Leary, 35, of England via unanimous decision in the ninth bout of the evening while Al-Selawe submitted David Bear, 28, of France via triangle choke in the co-main event.

Al-Selawe has been on a tear since joining Brave, in late 2016. He has won his six bouts for the promotion, including a first-round KO of Carlston “Moçambique” Harris, 31, of Guyana back at “Brave 16,” which elevated him to world champion status.

Al-Selwady shocked the MMA world with a dominant first-round win over Brazilian veteran Lucas “Mineiro” Martins, 30, of Brazil to claim the undisputed Lightweight title. The Jordanian fighter is also undefeated under the Brave CF banner winning all five wins i  the promotion.

On the other hand, Lazzez recently impressed in his Brave CF debut. Eldarov has not fought since “Brave 12” while Santiago defeated Djamil “Dynamite” Chan, 28, of the Netherlands at “Brave 18.”

Before “Brave 23,” Brave CF will be in the Philippines for “Brave 22: Storm of Warriors.” Here are the headliners of the promotion’s first event in 2019:
