The Bee was one of the six remaining mystery celebrity singers who performed in “The Masked Singer” Season 1 episode 7 titled “All Together Now,” which aired on Fox on February 13, 2019. He competed against the Lion, the Alien, the Monster, the Rabbit and the Peacock.
“All Together Now” marked the first time all remaining “The Masked Singer” contestants are together in one episode. As a guest judge, JB Smoove joined resident judges Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke on the panel.
“So far, I’ve been singing hits from today’s music,” the Bee said before performing. “Now that the competition is getting tougher, I’m going back to what I know best. A few of us Queen Bees got their groove on back then.”
Moreover, the Bee threw out lyrics of songs of other soul singers including “We Don’t Need Another Hero” by Anna Mae Bullock, who is professionally known as Tina Turner and “Giving You the Best That I Got” by Anita Baker. The Bee said her song tonight is “from a very close friend.”
Among the six contestants, the Bee was the fourth to perform. She sang “What’s Love Got to Do with It” by Turner.
Capitol released “What’s Love Got to Do with It” on May 1, 1984. Written by Terry Britten and Graham Lyle, the song is from Turner’s fifth solo studio album titled “Private Dancer.”
After the Bee’s performance of “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” Thicke said she is obviously a living legend whoever she is. He still believed she could be Gladys Knight.
For McCarthy, the bakeware clue from “The Masked Singer” Season 1 episode 6 could have been a clue about the name of the Bee. She suggested Baker again.
When Thicke asked the Bee if she has ever won a Grammy, she confirmed that she has won 10. Watch her performance of “What’s Love Got to Do with It” here:
