
Filipino comedian Jonathan Aguilar Garcia, who is professionally known as Chokoleit, passed away on March 9, 2019. He was 46.
Chokoleit was managed by talent agency Star Magic. On the day of his death, he was performing at a show in Bangued, Abra, Philippines, which was celebrating the annual Abrenian Kawayan Festival.
“Details are still being gathered,” Star Magic said in a statement obtained by ABS-CBN News. “Chokoleit was performing in an out of town show in Abra, and experienced difficulty in breathing after his performance.”
Local band The Juans was the act that performed before Chokoleit took the stage. He sang “Kahit Maputi na ang Buhok Ko” by Rey Valera before his stand-up comedy performance.
While performing, Chokoleit experienced breathing difficulty. He was rushed to the hospital where he died of heart attack.
One of the celebrities who took to social media to pay tribute to Chokoleit was comedian Jose Marie Borja Viceral, 42, who is professionally known as Vice Ganda. The two co-starred in the fantasy comedy film “Fantastica” in 2018.
Born on June 25, 1972 in Davao City, Philippines, Chokoleit is best known for his role as Pearly Shell in the ABS-CBN series “Marina” in 2005. The last TV series he starred in was “Asintado,” which aired on ABS-CBN in 2018.
