Training out of Team Lakay in Baguio City, Philippines, Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly, 35, is one of the hometown heroes competing at “ONE: Roots of Honor.” He will take on Sung Jong Lee, 32, of Cheonan, South Korea.
“ONE: Roots of Honor” will take place at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on April 12, 2019. It is the second ONE Championship event in 2019 to take place in the country.
Kelly is well-versed in both the striking and grappling arts. A senior member of the famed Team Lakay, he is best known for his 21-second knockout victory over Meas Meul, 27, of Phnom Penh, Cambodia on January 26, 2018 at “ONE: Global Superheroes” at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
The Team Lakay fighter aims for the same result at “ONE: Roots of Honor” against Lee, who is a NAGA No-Gi Grappling Champion. The South Korean contender is one of the craftiest submission artists in the featherweight division of ONE Championship.
Lee is training out of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu in Seoul, South Korea. He looks forward to putting his mat skills to the test against a world-class wushu champion in Kelly at “ONE: Roots of Honor.”
