Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson, 32, of the United States was one of the winners at “ONE: A New Era” at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on March 31, 2019. It marked his first bout in ONE Championship.

“ONE: A New Era” featured 11 MMA bouts and four ONE Super Series matches, which include two kickboxing contests and two Muay Thai contests. In the 11th bout of the evening, Johnson faced Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu, 24, of Japan.

Johnson and Wakamatsu competed in the quarter-finals of ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix. Olivier Coste served as the referee.

Coste put a stop to the contest after 2 minutes and 40 seconds in the second round. Johnson submitted Wakamatsu via guillotine choke.

Winning at “ONE: A New Era” improved the professional MMA record of Johnson to 28 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw. On the other hand, Wakamatsu now has 11 wins and 3 losses.

Including the U.S. and Japan, 19 countries were represented at “ONE: A New Era,” which is the first ever ONE Championship event to take place in Japan. The other countries represented were Australia, Brazil, China, Cyprus, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand

Wakamatsu was one of the six athletes from Japan on the “ONE: A New Era” card. Johnson was one of the three fighters from the U.S.
