Training out Team Lakay in Baguio City, Philippines, Danny “The King” Kingad, 23, was one of the winners at “ONE: A New Era” at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on March 31, 2019. It was his ninth victory in ONE Championship.

“ONE: A New Era” featured 11 MMA bouts and four ONE Super Series matches, which include two kickboxing contests and two Muay Thai contests. In the eighth bout of the evening, Kingad faced Senzo Ikeda, 36, of Japan in the quarter-finals of ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix with Kemp Cheng as the referee.

After three five-minute rounds, the bout was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Cheng raised the hand of Kingad, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: A New Era” improved Kingad’s professional MMA record to 12 wins and 1 draw. On the other hand, Ikeda now has 12 wins, 7 losses and 1 draw.

Including Japan and the Philippines, 19 countries were represented at “ONE: A New Era,” which is the first ever ONE Championship event to take place in Japan. The other countries represented were Australia, Brazil, China, Cyprus, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Netherlands, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and the United States
