
Representing Thailand, “The Iron Man” Rodtang Jitmuangnon, 31, was one of the winners at “ONE: A New Era” at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on March 31, 2019. It marked his third victory in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.
“ONE: A New Era” featured 11 MMA bouts and four ONE Super Series matches, which include two kickboxing contests and two Muay Thai contests. In the sixth bout of the evening, Jitmuangnon faced Hakim Hamech, 26, of France in a Muay Thai match in the flyweight division with Elias Dolaptsis as the referee.
After three three-minute rounds, the Muay Thai bout was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Dolaptsis raised the hand of Rodtang, who was declared the winner via split decision.
Winning at “ONE: A New Era” improved Rodtang’s professional Muay Thai record to 256 wins, 41 losses and 10 draws. On the other hand, Hamech now has 43 wins and 9 losses.
Including Thailand and France, 19 countries were represented at “ONE: A New Era,” which is the first ever ONE Championship event to take place in Japan. The other countries represented were Australia, Brazil, China, Cyprus, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Korea and the United States.
Rodtang was one of the two fighters from Thailand on the “ONE: A New Era” card. Hamech solely represented France.
