ONE Championship has just announced “ONE: For Honor” set for May 3, 2019 at Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia. Jonathan “The General” Haggerty, 21, of Walworth, London, United Kingdom will challenge reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Sam-A Gaiyanghadao, 34, of Buriram, Thailand in the main event.

At a young age, Haggerty is already an accomplished martial artist. He began training in Muay Thai at the age of 7 under the watchful eye of his father John Haggerty, who himself was an active competitor.

Jonathan quickly racked up multiple accolades in the sport of Muay Thai as an amateur becoming a three-time English Champion and a three-time British Champion as well as winning a European title. As a professional, he is still building his resume but he has dominated almost everyone he has faced to date, winning almost all of his bouts via knockout while facing the sport’s elite.

Now, Jonathan gets the chance to challenge a Muay Thai legend for the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title. Sam-A is a multiple-time Muay Thai world champion born to a family of farmers in Buriram.

Over the course of a stellar 25-year career spanning more than 400 bouts, Sam-A has captured titles across several weight classes and is now known as one of the very best Muay Thai kickboxers of all time. He began his competitive Muay Thai career at the young age of 9.

When Sam-A was 15 years old, he moved to Bangkok, Thailand to take his career to the next level. He began training at the famed Petchyindee Muay Thai academy before making his debut at the prestigious Rajadamnern and Lumpinee stadiums.

It did not take long for Sam-A to see his hard work and dedication pay off as he blazed a trail in the sport to emerge as a living legend in the ring. On May 18, 2018, he became the first ever ONE Super Series Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion by defeating Sergio “Samurai” Wielzen, 30, of the Netherlands and Suriname at “ONE: Unstoppable Dreams” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore.

Additional bouts at “ONE: For Honor” will be announced at a later date. Meanwhile, here is a clip from Sam-A’s very first ONE Super Series bout:
