Fighting out of Brazil, Poliana Botelho, 30, was one of the winners at “UFC 236.” It was her third victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Featuring 13 mixed martial arts matches, “UFC 236” took place at the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, USA on April 13, 2019. In the second bout of the evening, Botelho faced Lauren “Princess Tiger” Mueller, 27, of San Diego, California, USA in the women’s flyweight division with George Allen as the referee.

After three five-minute rounds, the flyweight bout between Botelho and Mueller was left in the hands of the judges namely Derek Cleary, Nate Mann and Sal D’Amato. In the end, Allen raised the hand of the Brazilian contender, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

All of the three judges scored the bout 29-28 in favor of Botelho. The victory improved her professional MMA record to 8 wins and 2 losses.

On the other hand, Mueller now has 5 wins and 2 losses. Not including her victory in “Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series” Season 1 episode 8, she now has 1 win and 2 losses in the UFC.

Born in Muriae, Minas Gerais, Brazil on December 15, 1988, Botelho is a black belt in Muay Thai and blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. She is a former Xtreme Fighting Championships Women’s Flyweight Champion.

As an MMA fighter, Botelho has been competing professionally since 2013. When she made her UFC debut at “UFC 216” at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, she defeated Pearl Gonzales, 32, of Cicero, Illinois, USA via unanimous decision.

On May 19, 2019, Botelho earned her second win in the UFC. She knocked out Syuri Kondo, 30, of Ebina, Kanagawa, Japan via kick to the body and punches at “UFC Fight Night 129” at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile.

The first and still the only fighter to defeat Botelho in the UFC is Cynthia Calvillo,31, of San Jose, California, USA. The latter submitted the former via rear-naked choke at “UFC Fight Night 140” at Parque Roca Arena in Buenos Aires, Argentina on November 17, 2018.

“UFC 236” marked Botelho’s fourth UFC bout. She now has 3 wins and 1 loss in the promotion.

Including Brazil and the U.S., six countries were represented at “UFC 236.” The other countries are Germany, Nigeria, Russia and Ukraine.
