Zagreb, Croatia and Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina have been twin cities since 2001. The latter is around 165.3 kilometers away from Grude, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Born in Grude, Milan Bandić attended the University of Zagreb in Zagreb. Since June 14, 2005, he has been the mayor of Zagreb, a position he also held from June 2, 2000 to March 1, 2002.
Zagreb is the capital of Croatia, which currently has three Miss Universe placements. Representing the European country, Sarah Ćosić finished in the Top 15 in 2009 and Elizabeta Burg and Shanaelle Petty finished in the Top 16 in 2012 and 2017, respectively.
Miss Universe Croatia 2018
On April 21, 2018, Mia Pojatina of Nova Gradiška, Croatia was crowned Miss Universe Croatia 2018 at Studio Anton Marti in Zagreb. She competed against 17 other candidates.
Runner-up to Pojatina was Danijela Galeković while Silvana Došen was the second runner-up. Suzana Blazanovic and Zlata Stefanova finished in the Top 5.
On December 17, 2018, Pojatina represented Croatia at Miss Universe 2018 and competed against 93 other candidates at the Impact Arena in Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi, Thailand. She was unplaced.
Miss Universe Croatia 2019
On April 27, 2019, Pojatina will crown her successor at the Esplanade Zagreb Hotel in Zagreb. It is the 23rd edition of the national beauty pageant that selects Croatia’s Miss Universe candidate.
