Training out of Shengli Fight Club in Shengli, Shandong, China, “Muay Thai Boy” Zhang Chenglong, 21, was one of the winners at “ONE: Warriors of Light.” It was his second bout and second victory in ONE Championship’s striking-only league ONE Super Series.

Featuring three kickboxing contests, four Muay Thai matches and five mixed martial arts bouts, “ONE: Warriors of Light” took place at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on May 10, 2019. In the seventh bout of the evening, Zhang fought Panicos Yusuf, 33, of Limassol, Cyprus in an kickboxing match in the bantamweight division with Elias Dolaptsis as the referee.

Zhang and Yusuf delighted the Impact Arena crowd with an intense striking skirmish. It was a furious pace from start to end as both martial artists unloaded their best strikes for the duration of the bout.

In the third round, Zhang dropped Yusuf twice and nearly finished the Cypriot. But the latter, who is of Filipino and Cypriot descent, survived to the final bell.

After three three-minute rounds, the bantamweight contest was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Dolaptsis raised the hand of Zhang, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Winning at “ONE: Warriors of Light” improved the professional kickboxing record of Zhang to 48 wins, 12 losses and 1 draw. On the other hand, Yusuf now has 38 wins and 8 losses.

While Zhang was one of the two fighters who represented China at “ONE: Warriors of Light,” Yusuf was one of the two representatives of Cyprus. Algeria, Australia, Cambodia, Chinese Taipei, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Portugal, Thailand and the United States were also represented.

Born in Beijing, China on October 17, 1997, Zhang started his Muay Thai training when he was 13 years old. He is a Top King Muay Thai World Champion.

The Shengli Fight Club athlete held the MAX Muaythai 63kg Silver Belt in 2016. In 2017, he won the Glory Featherweight Qualification Tournament Championship title.

On February 22, 2019, Zhang made his ONE Super Series debut at “ONE: Call to Greatness” at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. He defeated Kong “Little White Dragon” Sambo, 23, of Cambodia via split decision.
