Butuan is geographically located in Agusan del Norte, Philippines but the city is independent from the province. Cabadbaran is the only component city and the capital of the province, which has 10 municipalities namely Buenavista, Carmen, Jabonga, Kitcharao, Las Nieves, Magallanes, Nasipit, Remedios T. Romualdez, Santiago and Tubay.

Born and raised in Cabadbaran, Maria Angelica Rosedell Malbas Amante Matba earned her master’s degree in public administration from Father Saturnino Urios University in Butuan. She was the congresswoman of the second district of Agusan del Norte from 2004 to 2007 and from 2010 to 2013.

Batba turned 49 on April 16, 2019. She will assume office again as the congresswoman of Agusan del Norte on June 30, 2019.

Agusan del Norte is one of the five provinces of the Caraga Administrative Region of the Philippines. The others are Agusan del Sur, the Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur.
