Albay, Philippines is home to the Mayon Volcano. The active stratovolcano is the centerpiece of the Albay Biosphere Reserve, which was declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in 2016.

Albay has 720 barangays. The province has three component cities namely Legazpi, Ligao and Tabaco and 15 municipalities namely Bacacay, Camalig, Daraga, Guinobatan, Jovellar, Libon, Malilipot, Malinao, Manito, Oas, Pio Duran, Polangui, Rapu-Rapu, Santo Domingo and Tiwi.

Oas is home to Catriona Gray‘s mother Normita Ragas Magnayon. Representing the Philippines, Gray finished in the Top 5 at Miss World 2016 and won Miss Universe 2018.

On May 19, 2018, Marjorie Vista represented Malinao at Miss Earth Philippines 2018 and competed against 41 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. She was unplaced.
