Angeles is geographically located in Pampanga, Philippines but the city is independent from the province. The province has two component cities namely Mabalacat and San Fernando.

San Fernando, the capital of Pampanga, is around 17 kilometers away from Angeles. The province has 19 municipalities namely Apalit, Arayat, Bacolor, Candaba, Floridablanca, Guagua, Lubao, Macabebe, Magalang, Masantol, Mexico, Minalin, Porac, San Luis, San Simon, Santa Ana, Santa Rita, Santo Tomas and Sasmuan.

The first legislative district of Pampanga consists of Angeles, Mabalacat and Magalang. The Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone covers portions of Angeles, Mabalacat and Porac as well as Bamban and Capas, which are municipalities of Tarlac, Philippines.

Miss International Philippines 2009 Melody Adelheid Manuel Gersbach grew up in Angeles, where she was also buried. She was born in Daraga, Albay, Philippines to a German father and a Filipino mother.

Gersbach turned 24 on November 18, 2009. She died in a car accident in Bula, Camarines Sur, Philippines on August 21, 2010.
