Biliran is one of the newest provinces in the Philippines. The province is home to the Bagongbong Falls, the Iyusan Rice Terraces, the Kasabangan Falls, the Recoletos Falls, the Tingkasan Bat Cave and the Ulan-ulan Falls.
From June 30, 2001 to June 30, 2010, Rogelio “Roger” Jimenez Espina served as the governor of Biliran. On June 30, 2010, he assumed office as the congressman of the province.
Espina’s daughter Gretchen Stephanie Mendiola Espina was born in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. She won “Pinoy Idol”, which aired on GMA Network from April 5, 2008 to August 17, 2008.
On June 30, 2019, Roger will assume office again as the governor of Biliran. On the same day, he will turn 59.

On May 11, 1992, Biliran became a province. It used to be part of Leyte, Philippines.
Biliran has eight municipalities namely Almeria, Biliran, Cabucgayan, Caibiran, Culaba, Kawayan, Maripipi and Naval. Collectively, the eight municipalities have a total of 132 barangays, 26 of which are in Naval, the capital of the province.
