Davao City is the only independent city in the Davao Region of the Philippines. The region has five provinces namely Davao de Oro, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental and Davao Oriental.

Through a partnership with the Tim Tebow Foundation, the Tebow CURE Hospital was established Davao City in 2014. The city is geographically located in Davao del Sur but is independent from the province.

On May 19, 2018, We’am Ahmed represented Davao City at Miss Earth Philippines 2018 and competed against 41 other candidates at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. She finished in the Top 18.
