Ilocos Sur, Philippines has two component cities namely Candon and Vigan and 32 municipalities. Vigan is the capital of the province.

Jeremias “Jerry” Crisologo Singson was born in Vigan to Jose Sebastian Singson and Caridad Singson Crisologo. Since June 30, 2016, Jerry has been the vice governor of Ilocos Sur, a position he also held from June 30, 2001 to June 30, 2004 and from June 30, 2007 to June 30, 2010.

On June 5, 2011, Ralph Lauren Asuncion represented Narvacan, Ilocos Sur and Diana Rose Santos represented Vigan at Miss Philippines Earth 2011 and competed against 46 other candidates at the Puerto Princesa Coliseum in Puerto Princesa, Philippines. Asuncion finished in the Top 20 while Santos was unplaced.

On May 27, 2012, Dorothy Joy Pagurayan represented Cabugao, Ilocos Sur and Mary Candice Ramos represented Vigan at Miss Philippines Earth 2012 and competed against 45 other candidates at the Center Stage of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Pagurayan was unplaced while Ramos ranked fifth and was crowned Miss Philippines Eco Tourism 2012.

On August 16, 2014, Rosanna Andrea Reniva represented Ilocos Sur at Miss Grand Philippines 2014 and competed against 16 other candidates at the GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center in Quezon City, Metro Manila. She finished in the Top 10.

On August 25, 2018, Kamille Alyssa Pilarca Quinola represented Ilocos Sur at Miss Tourism Philippines 2018 and competed against 23 other candidates at Chateau Royale in Nasugbu, Batangas, Philippines. She ranked fifth and was crowned Miss Tourism Queen Worldwide Philippines 2018.
