Malabon is one of the 16 cities in Metro Manila, Philippines. The city has 21 barangays namely Acacia, Baritan, Bayan-bayanan, Catmon, Concepcion, Dampalit, Flores, Hulong Duhat, Ibaba, Longos, Maysilo, Muzon, Niugan, Panghulo, Potrero, San Agustin, Santulan, Tañong, Tinajeros, Tonsuya and Tugatog.
Pasay, Metro Manila native Jose Santos Concepcion Jr. attended the De La Salle Araneta University in Potrero. He served as the Philippines’ secretary of trade and industry from 1986 to 1990.
Also located in Potrero is the Malabon Zoo, which is home to bears, deer, lions, reptiles and tigers. Owned by Manny Tangco, it was first opened in 1989.
On June 30, 2013, Jeannie L. Ng Sandoval assumed office as the vice mayor of Malabon. On October 28, 2013, Angelika de la Cruz was elected as the barangay captain of Longos.
On October 29, 2018, de la Cruz turned 37. On January 14, 2019, Sandoval turned 54.
